In the lecture hall, Estelle slipped into the seat next to Diane and stared at the screen. She was too distracted to listen to the professor expounding on the classical writers. Her gaze diverted to the window and she wondered where poor Rockette was trapped.

Diane frowned at her friend. “What’s the matter, Estelle? You’ve been looking out the window for half an hour.”

Shaking her head, Estelle said, “Nothing really. I was thinking about Mr. Sunshine’s threats.”

“That weirdo!” Diane laughed. “I missed his announcement, but I’m sure the police will catch him. Or the army. I saw your friend Mark Copper calling in the military.”

“Do you think the army can handle Mr. Sunshine? I think he’s behind those killer mantises.”

“If the army can’t deal with a little Sunshine, who can?” Diane joked.

Estelle chuckled. “He looks a little squirt.” But, she knew he had access to special Zarnoth technology, and she guessed he had more tricks in store for the people of Atalanta.
